Established in 2016, the Rhode Island Community Renewables Program is a fund that offers grants on a first-come, first-serve basis for community solar developers who pass on benefits to subscribers through a bill credit.
In 2018, Rhode Island revised its net metering tariff to include aggregated and remote net metering and expanded community solar to include hospitals, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations.
