WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 13, 2021) – In a statement, ILSR’s Co-director Stacy Mitchell responded to President Biden’s nomination of Alvaro Bedoya to the Federal Trade Commission.

“We welcome the nomination of Alvaro Bedoya to the Federal Trade Commission and urge his speedy confirmation.

“We’re glad to see President Biden nominate someone with an understanding of how surveillance by powerful tech corporations is  harming communities, particularly communities of color.

“After years of inaction, it’s encouraging to see the FTC finally come to life and begin to tackle the outsized corporate power that’s stifling small businesses, working people, and our economy. We strongly urge the Senate to confirm Bedoya, and look forward to working with him and the other members of the Commission.”
