CNN coverage of Amazon’s Prime Day cited ILSR’s research on average hourly wage for Amazon workers. Stacy Mitchell, ILSR’s Co-director and Director of the Community Scaled Economy Initiative, was featured citing the report findings.
SEBASTIAN: In 2016, the Institute for local self-reliance compared Amazon’s warehouse pay against other warehouse jobs in 11 U.S. metro areas.
STACY: We got average across this 11 metro areas. Amazon pays about 15 percent less than what workers are normally paid for warehouse jobs.
