ILSR’s Stacy Mitchell, together with Barry Lynn of the Open Markets Institute, were keynote speakers at the launch of the Canadian Anti-Monopoly Project (CAMP), a new Canadian antimonopoly policy and research organization. CAMP invited Stacy and Barry to talk about the threat that monopoly power poses, and the importance of strong antimonopoly policy to a fair and free society. The two guests outlined the basic principles of antimonopoly — democracy, opportunity, liberty, and responsibility — and how concentrated corporate power is one of the most oppressive challenges our economy faces today.
Stacy and Barry also discussed how a growing international movement is beginning to turn the tide against concentrated corporate power. CAMP’s emergence is the latest promising example of how activists, advocates, and policymakers across the globe are taking on monopoly power and leading the way to policy reforms that can build a more resilient, active, and equitable economy.
