While <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clf.org\/new-england-food-waste-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Several New England states<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have enacted legislation to divert food waste from disposal, they mainly target large food waste generators. To meet these regulations, there are abundant resources available to assist supermarkets and other food waste generators but there continues to be a notable lack of support for schools, community gardens, and urban farms in historically excluded neighborhoods to establish a local circular economy. Similarly, although New York City has proved a leader in supporting local composting, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/compost-drop-off-sites-return-to-nyc-as-curbside-collection-of-organic-waste-stalls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tumultuous rollout<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of curbside composting, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ilsr.org\/articles\/nyc-failures-reflect-national-trends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the pressures of industrial competition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the limited scope of municipal funding mean many in the city\u2019s vibrant ecosystem of community composters remain under-resourced.
