La planta incineradora de basura del Condado de Montgomery en Dickerson, Maryland, aclamada durante mucho tiempo como un modelo de \u00e9xito en la industria por los defensores de la incineraci\u00f3n, no ha parecido tan exitosa en los \u00faltimos meses.<\/p>\n

El Washington Post informa<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cLos registros muestran 105 d\u00edas de interrupciones no programadas entre marzo y octubre del a\u00f1o pasado. Los cierres del mes pasado y de julio obligaron al condado a encontrar otros destinos para unas 55,000 toneladas de basura, dijeron los funcionarios. La planta estuvo en pleno funcionamiento solo nueve d\u00edas en septiembre y octubre.\u201d<\/p>\n

Durante este mismo per\u00edodo, Covanta, la operadora de la planta de Dickerson, MD, tambi\u00e9n estaba atendiendo incendios en su nuevo incinerador de basura en Durham (Ontario, Canad\u00e1).<\/p>\n

Si estos incidentes se convierten en una tendencia, los contribuyentes del condado de Montgomery ver\u00e1n un aumento en los impuestos\/tarifas de servicio.<\/p>\n
