La naturaleza de las discusiones sobre la RAEE en Estados Unidos en general y para envases ha cambiado significativamente en el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o. La administraci\u00f3n de California encargada de la gesti\u00f3n de productos decidi\u00f3 centrarse en la RAEE para materiales t\u00f3xicos y dif\u00edciles de reciclar. El Consejo de la Ciudad de Berkeley y el Consejo Global de Reciclaje de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Recuperaci\u00f3n de Recursos de California aprobaron resoluciones que piden un control p\u00fablico en lugar de un control corporativo sobre los programas de RAEE.
