Neil Seldman, ILSR\u2019s president and recycling-based economic development technical assistance provider, has accepted an invitation to serve as advisor to the Sierra Club’s National Zero Waste Committee. Seldman has worked extensively with local Sierra Club chapters throughout the US for over 30 years. Seldman will serve on the garbage incineration, extended producer responsibility (EPR), and economic development sub-committees. Recycling pioneers Peter Anderson, Mary Lou Van Deventer, Ann Schneider, Gary Liss, and Rod Muir also serve on the committee, with Dan Knapp serving as an advisor.<\/p>\n

The Committee is developing guidelines for committee work. Most recently, the EPR committee released the following sub-committee purpose statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Sierra Club supports the concept of Extended Produce Responsibility and wants to ensure that its implementation is consistent with our Zero Waste principles. The purpose of this committee is to conduct continuing analysis and tracking of legislation, programs, and implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility; to analyze impacts and harmonize diverse ideas in service of the Zero Waste goal; and to develop tools for chapters to use.”<\/p>\n
