Walter Wuthmann assists with writing and research for the Community-Scaled Economy Initiative in ILSR’s Portland, Maine, office. He focuses on analyzing the climate impact of large retail operations.
Walter grew up in Northern California, and came to Portland by way of Bowdoin College. While in school, he transformed a nebulous passion for books and the great outdoors into a coordinated Environmental Studies and English major. He is interested in exposing the negative externalities of big business and supporting simpler, cleaner, and more democratic economic systems. He previously worked in written and visual media for the Nature Conservancy in Maine and the Great Smoky Mountains Association in Tennessee.
