The 1960s was a time of dramatic change. Rarely recognized is the growth of the US recycling movement. ILSR and Urban Ore are working to change this and to preserve the history of the movement.
In 2011 ILSR and Urban Ore worked with the University of Illinois – Springfield to establish the US Recycling Archives. The University of Illinois has established an archive for documents, video, tapes and books pertaining to the recycling movement. The archives will allow for future historical research and models for citizen and community based initiatives in the environmental and economic development sectors. Dan Knapp, Urban Ore, and Neil Seldman, receive items for review and forward them to the University.
