ILSR Senior Researcher Kennedy Smith talked to the Mayors’ Institute on City Design about how to help Main Street businesses survive the pandemic.
Kennedy, a commercial district expert, outlined a framework that mayors can use to support independent businesses and main street districts during the pandemic: provide urgent economic relief, help businesses adapt and pivot, and tackle systemic problems that have been laid bare by the pandemic.
Kennedy’s presentation is based on her recent ILSR report Safeguarding Small Business During The Pandemic: 26 Strategies For Local Leaders.
