Join us at the Alice Ferguson Foundation’s 7th Annual Potomac Watershed Trash Summit. This event is a gathering of key stakeholders, including elected officials, government agencies, businesses and concerned citizens, to educate, dialogue, plan and take action on strategies that lead to a Trash Free Potomac Watershed. Besides regional updates, elected official presentations, and Potomac Champion Awards, you will hear a keynote address by Jean-Michel Cousteau, world-renowned ocean explorer and filmmaker. There will also be six sessions geared toward tackling the issue of litter in the region: Public Education, Policy, The 4 Rs, Creative Engagement, Monitoring, and Composting.
ILSR would especially like to invite you to this last session, titled “Compost: Protecting our Watershed,” which will discuss how compost can be used as an important tool for managing stormwater and building healthy soils. During the session we will hear from Delegate Mizeur of Montgomery County, MD, and a panel of experts and begin to formulate a plan for the region that will build safe water and healthy soils while allowing us to capitalize on this rich resource, which is too often lost to landfills and incinerators.
